Lime Green: One of my Favorite "True Hues"!

Lime Green:  Lively.  Inspiring.  Upbeat.  A hue where springtime is all the time!  A refreshing wave of citrus to the pop of kinetic vibrancy in your living room or bathroom, lime green can’t be missed!
Did you know that lime green is three quarters of the way between yellow and green on the color wheel?  That’s how we see a little more green than yellow, but also how it pairs excellently with it’s counterpart - red =)  Lime green is born out of two primary colors, blue and yellow, and also mixed with white for brightness.  All colors on our color wheel are made from the three primary colors:  red, yellow and blue.  Any other color made from these will be our secondary and tertiary colors that we see many tints and shades of.
Green in itself got its start by none other than Aristotle.  He discovered that by combining two colors, a third color would be produced.  Before the 16th century, he brought together a blue piece of glass and a yellow piece of glass which then resulted in green.  Lime green is also very closely associated with chartreuse (the terms often intertwine with one another) and the August birthstone, peridot.  Green has many meanings associated with it including excitement, motivation, prosperity, hope and growth.  Hey, who wouldn’t want those?  =)
Green is also associated with the emotion of envy or jealousy.  The Hebrew word for envy addresses the burning color in the face produced by a deep emotion.  The Greeks believed that it was an overabundance of bile, a yellowish-green acid, that was produced in the complexion when this emotion took place.
On a lighter note, when lime green is used in the home, it can make for a bright invitation leading to a great transformation.  Let’s take a look at some ways lime green is used in decoration! (Please excuse the poetry!) =D

The lime green used on the leafy wallpaper, the fun storage drawers, the funky desk chair and the mirrored closet doors is balanced with the tall, architectural white divider/loft and the white floor in this bedroom.  This space emulates a bright and invigorating haven.

The few pops of lime green on this neutral sofa’s throw pillows, the decorative planter and the fingertip vase on the cocktail table is a burst of energy in this modern styled living area.  This pairs well with the red counterpart like I mentioned earlier without looking, shall we say, "festive".

The lime green and chocolate brown bedspread and accent pillows is a lively statement in this stately bedroom.  Take note of the hanging almost-windchime-esque ornament above the bed that serves purpose to the top-of-the-bed.  Tre cool =)

If you are somewhat shy about lime green throughout a whole space or in a large quantity, consider painting the inside of your kitchen cabinets a lime green.  It’s a refreshing way to juxtapose an otherwise neutral palette.

A too-cute nursery bestows a contemporary styled, lime green jungle mural complemented by an espresso brown outlined animal print area rug and lime green crib bedspread to finish the look.  Lime green is great for either boy or girl and this nursery in particular looks so alive and fresh, a perfect statement for new life and new beginnings.
